I have to admit it. The other day, when I was writing about my botanical and faux rust tray, it struck me how ‘style-confused’ I am. I don’t know if style-confused is a word, but if it is, I suffer from it. Many years ago, when I hadn’t discovered the world of interior blogs and Pinterest yet, I was drawn to books about ‘cottage decor’ and ‘country decor’. A lot of it was English, and a small part Scandinavian. Later, when I embarked on the Pinterest-train, the old red barns and primitive decor of North America caught my attention. Meanwhile I decorated my own house in Belgium, and was influenced a lot by French, Belgian and Dutch vibes just because … those countries were very close.
And now, many years later … am I surrounded by Scandinavian decor. And because of Pinterest I’m also influenced by the American Chip and Joanna Gaines Farmhouse Style. But what is my style? I don’t know anymore. Style isn’t static, but changes. I assume it’s normal that my own interior style is evolving when so many things influence me. In the past year vintage, rustic, colour and boho are attracting me more and more while it has been neutrals for a long time. I’m motivated to try out more and show it on this blog in the near future.
Today I wanted to show you my favorite Instagram ‘finds’ for Scandinavian farmhouse style. I love how different they are, yet have the Scandinavian farmhouse vibe in common.
Lise from Hverdagslykkelise is a photographer and foodstylist from Norway. Her style is down-to-earth, yet creative, with blue as a central colour. I would call it ‘colourful rustic’.
I’m not ready yet to use as much black as Nordingården in my interior, but she does a great job! Very inspiring!
I mentioned T.Susanna already in my post ‘thoughts about being a multipassionate entrepreneur’, and here she is again! I love her #dailycoffeemoments (because I have them too). Her interior is so calming and serene.
Talking about a Scandinavian farmhouse style: Nina Elisabet is the real deal, the Swedish farmhouse like it was back in the day. “The real deal”, you could say that it’s also the name of her blog: ‘Äkta hem’ or an authentic home.
And last but not least is Hilda’s IG. I’m cheating a little bit, because Sofia no longer lives in a farmhouse, but she used to! I’m highly inspired by the way she creates vignettes with old Swedish chairs, plates and patterns. And ofcourse … the cats!
And now, THE question: Which one is your favorite?
