Finding my way back

Finding my way back - Dala Muses

This is a post just for the sake of ‘creative expression’. The last time I wrote was on the 11th of July and we’re almost a month further now. I have been feeling under the weather for many weeks, which explains my absence. I went from an inflammed molar to a tooth extraction with complications over the course of 6 weeks. I don’t have to tell you that feeling sick or having pain is energy draining! There was no energy left for the things that normally give energy: writing on this blog, photography, painting, flowers, stenciling, designing, …

Those weeks were a lesson in enjoying the little things and letting go of unrealistic goals. In the beginning I felt here and there still good enough to execute my ideas, such as painting my botanical dresser or painting this cute stool in one of the newest Fusion Mineral Paint colours (Enchanted Echinacea) and experimenting with photography. After a while I just decided to let go of everything and mostly rest. Just letting go and see what’s next.

After the resting, when things seemed to get a bit better and less painful,  came the “blank canvas”. When you’re quite a creative person there’s nothing more scary than a blank canvas. No inspiration, no ideas, just boredom and low energy. Two days ago I was sitting on our deck and just staring into infinity, until I saw my cornflowers. I picked up my camera again, took some shots, edited the images and it felt so good! Yesterday I picked up my paintbrush again. Moody midnight blue and a mysterious green will become the backdrop for a harvest-time/early Fall display. I hope I can show it soon!  I’m just slowly finding my way back now :).

So sorry Goedele that you have been out of commission. I find tooth pain some of the worst to handle. Rest as you need to we will still be here when you pop in next!
