Visual journaling for business: collages

Visual journaling for business - Dala Muses

I like these early evening hours at the end of Winter. Not yet dark, with a very quiet atmosphere here in the woods and the perfect moment to write. I want to tell a little bit about my collages, a creative outlet that starts in school and so often stays exactly there: in school.  But not in our house. I’m 38 years old, but I still love making collages and I do take them very seriously. I glue them in what I call my ‘visual journal’. Read more

Business growth when you don’t have time

Business growth when you don't have time - Dala Muses

Hello from winter wonderland. It has been such a long time since I wrote on this blog. I missed it a lot! It’s one of the creative outlets that brings me joy, and is just another way to express myself. I’m glad to be back. The past weeks were a bit rocky in our family and I just didn’t have a lot of time left to write, work on my business or even relax a little bit. I hesitated to write ‘not a lot of time to work on my business’, because I’m a business coach. Who wants to read that a business coach doesn’t have a lot of time for her business, I was thinking? I haven’t been writing/blogging lately, I know. It was a conscious choice I made a few weeks ago. Just because I deserve my hibernation for a few weeks :). The climate here in Dalarna pushes me into hibernation. It’s cold, snowy and dark and this has an effect on my whole being. I know it’s called hibernation in English and not ‘wintersleep’ like in wrote in the title, but that’s just a wink to my first language Dutch/Flemish where we use that word. Read more

For introvert creatives: my tips to put yourself out there!

It’s the evening before I leave for a short trip to my home country Belgium. I will be visiting family and teach a group of new retailers for Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, together with Old Red Barn, the European distributor for Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, Fusion Mineral Paint and Cling On brushes. I have done this many times before, I have been on flights on my own before,  I have been in front of a group before, I’m not even traveling to a ‘foreign’ country, but I’m a bit nervous. I just love my comfort zone … said the girl who wanted to start all over in another country. I also love to explore things out of my comfort zone! I’m very complex you could say haha. Read more

Upcycling barn finds into shop display

Repurposing items from the barn into shop display pieces - Dala Muses

I’m looking forward to opening my shop. My first workshops for september are planned, applications are coming in so I feel very motivated to move forward. The next step is ‘shop display’. It’s going to take a bit of time because I want my shop display to be all about repurposing and upcycling: giving old items ‘from the barn’ a new life. Read more
